Screen Shot 2013-06-10 at 20.59.13

On the 5th June at Blitz Nightclub in Preston, a Metal vs Hardcore night took place; which lined up two of the UK’s hardest, heaviest and ultimately freshest bands TRC and Martyr Defiled (also with support from local favourites: HeWhoDares). With a huge build up to this show online from Rawkus Promotions, everyone’s expectations were high. HeWhoDares Starting off the night were HeWhoDares, an audience favourite and one of the best local bands around, they had previously tore up Blitz in April with Being As An Ocean/Napoleon, so the majority of Blitz goers have seen them before; apart from this time they didn’t seem to ... Kicking off the set with a rather brilliant Robbie Williams cover, Let Me ... Read More »

Feature: Slam Dunk 2013 – By The Bands

slam dunk festivlal 2013

The full line-up’s been announced, the dates are sold out and the infamous Slam Dunk weekend is drawing closer as we speak. Everybody’s got their own plan for they’re going to see and the comments sections are full of argumentative trolls flaming over different bands on various stages. So to mix things up a bit, I got in touch with the only people whose opinions actually matter and decided to ask the bands on this years line-up who they were looking forward to seeing. Here’s what they had to say; “I don’t often get to see the other bands play ... Read More »

Feature: Frank Turner’s 5 Favourite Artists/Books.

Frank-Turner-Scotcampus

We’re big fans of Frank Turner at Alt Music Review. Upon getting his latest album, Tape Deck Heart , through the post a few days ago I gave it a quick spin in my car. It’s been playing every day since. One song in particular caught my attention. For fellow Car CD people, it’s track 13 on Tape Deck Heart. For the digital folk, it’s called ‘We Shall Not Overcome‘ The bands I like, they don’t sell too many records and the girls I like they don’t kiss too many boys. Books I read will never be best sellers. - Frank ... Read More »
