Spotlight: ‘Rhys Lewis & The Relics’

Rhys Lewis And The Relics

Marking the end of the first month of Spotlight Sundays on Alt Music Review is:  Rhys Lewis & the Relics Rhys Lewis & The Relics are a 5-piece pop folk band put together by songwriter Rhys Lewis. They met studying at The London Centre of Contemporary Music and the band was formed in January 2011. The 5 piece manage to put out such an incredible, full, sound in all of their songs – although it still has a very personable, stripped down tone to it. the vocals of the piece are  brilliantly harmonised, and are complemented from start to finish ... Spotlight: The Denial Twist

the Denial Twist

The third band to be spotlighted, in this ongoing beam of talent spotting are ‘The Denial Twist‘. A  three piece band from the Preston area who recently formed just for a bit of fun to play some music together… and ended up writing an EP’s worth of material!  Their music is a groove riddled hard-rock jam with a very laid back feel to it.  Although sporting some futuristic, experimental, tones in some of their songs, such as ‘Creepy Little Dirty’, as a whole, they put forward a very unaltered, natural, sound with a wonderfully raw edge to it. Who are The ... Read More »

With song titles such as “Just Because You Drink Jack Daniels Doesn’t Mean You’re Rock And Roll” – They evidently practise what they preach. You can stream their video for ‘Listen Smile Disagree’ below: Dead Retinas are: Hendo – Vocals Jack – Guitar/Vocals CJ – Bass/Vocals Lee O.C – Drums Influences Alexisonfire, Fucked up, Cancer ... Spotlight: The Pale Faces

Spotlight Sunday

This is the first in, hopefully, a long line of Spotlight Sundays. I started this to try and help new and upcoming artists – Something which the site as a whole strives to do anyway. If you wish to read a little more about the Sunday Spotlight, see here. The first artist to be in the spotlight is The Pale Faces, fittingly, just in time for their release of their debut album – ‘Gee Baby, I’m Mighty Blue For You’. Upon first listen, The Pale Faces sound like a confusing mirage of electronically interfered punk rock, but with every listen, ... Read More »

Sunday Spotlight

Spotlight Sunday

Luckily for fans of all things music, there’s a shitload (technical term) of music out there. Sadly for upcoming bands, this equates to a tonne of competition out there. As a new feature, Alt Music Review is setting out to spotlight some of this upcoming talent to both introduce readers to new talent and to help new bands out. There are so many bands who go unnoticed. whether it’s because they don’t maximize the potential reach of social media, they don’t have time to do gigs, if their music is a part time venture or in a small number of cases – ...
