The full line-up’s been announced, the dates are sold out and the infamous Slam Dunk weekend is drawing closer as we speak.

Everybody’s got their own plan for they’re going to see and the comments sections are full of argumentative trolls flaming over different bands on various stages.

So to mix things up a bit, I got in touch with the only people whose opinions actually matter and decided to ask the bands on this years line-up who they were looking forward to seeing.

Here’s what they had to say;

“I don’t often get to see the other bands play at festivals due to having to do press etc, but if I can get to see Cancer Bats, Marc Halls and/or Tek-One I’ll be happy.”

“It’s a really difficult thing to say as so many of our friends and so many great acts are playing! So having said that, I’d have to say Deaf Havana, because they drink like they don’t want to live.”

Cancer Bats because we saw them at last years Slam Dunk and they killed it”

“I’m most looking forward to seeing Man Overboard, Tonight Alive and of course The Story So Far. We just got finished with a North American tour with all those guys and I’m very excited to meet up to hang with them over seas.”

Man Overboard and Transit. My favorite part about international festival is seeing friends you have seen in awhile, in a foreign setting. I am looking forward to reconnecting with people as well as playing a great show.”

Gnarwolves. They’re on early doors and I plan on honouring their set with my first beer of the day!”

“Definitely most looking to seeing King Prawn at Slam Dunk this year. They’ve been a huge influence on The Skints, especially in the early days. The mashing up of genres in a London style and culture clash element to their music is something we have definitely taken on board, so respect to King Prawn. To be playing directly below them is a big fankid moment for us lot.”

“I’m mostly excited to be seeing and playing alongside Andrew McMahon again. One of The Academy Is‘s first tours was with Something Corporate and we’ve been friends ever since.”

Personally I really want to get to see Streetlight Manifesto so fingers crossed our sets don’t clash… or failing that I’m hoping that my mic lead is long enough to get to wherever they’re playing while I’m singing.

They’re just one of those bands I’ve listed to and appreciated but just haven’t got to see… and they’re talking about stopping any major touring after this year so this is the ideal time for me to catch them live.

Now I’m off to buy an extra long lead just in case….

Over the past few years we have had the sincere privilege of playing with and meeting a ton of amazing bands… Transit, Senses Fail, The Story So Far, Fireworks, The Wonder Years, The Early November, Four Year Strong, just to name a few. We have also had the equally amazing privilege to travel all of the world and see some amazing places.

This Slam Dunk is going to be less about what band I am excited to see and more about hanging out with a massive group of my friends, the bands I mentioned above and more in a far away land… With that being said I will be checking out most of these bands sets because they’re not only my buds but also great bands.

“It’s pretty hard to narrow it down to one band that I’m most excited to see at this years Slam Dunk, it’d have to be either Polar Bear Club or The Story So Far, I recently caught both of these bands in Australia and the energy these bands had was incredible, I can not wait to watch them again.

I’m also really excited to see Fireworks, Me vs Hero and Four Year Strong, we have been lucky enough to tour with these bands before and are all big fans, as well as the other 3 Australian acts in the bill who are good friends of ours.”

So, that’s your lot! If you fancy a quick conversation with one of your favourite bands, you now know where to find them. If they’re not there, you can often find them before the day kicks off hanging around the main hall with all the merch stands.

You’ll find me in the little cash and carry downstairs, stocking up on Chupa-Chups. Feel free to say “hi”.

Now it’s over to you, sound off below with who you’re most looking forward to seeing!
